Buff Bagwell Comments On Recent Arrest, Says Hes Still Sober (Updated)

Publish date: 2024-06-08

Buff Bagwell has commented on the incident, writing that his arrest was related to a prior issue. Bagwell says he is still living a sober lifestyle.

“Just wanted to clarify to everyone that I am 11 months sober (tomorrow). I see there is news out that I had to spend time in jail for a DUI,” he wrote, “but this was from the original offense years ago. I did get a recent sanction because I didn’t document a recent trip out of state properly.”

Former WCW star Buff Bagwell was arrested earlier this month.

Bagwell was arrested on July 13 for speeding and driving under the influence. According to Cobb County Sheriff’s Office records, he was released two days later on July 15.

As of this writing, Bagwell nor any of his friends have publicly commented on this arrest.

Accountability

Buff Bagwell entered rehab last summer to deal with an addiction problem. Prior to entering rehab, Bagwell appeared on Busted Open Radio. Bagwell claimed he was the only former contracted talent that WWE ever turned down for rehab.

“I couldn’t have wrote it any better. I couldn’t have asked God sitting down like knee to knee with God and say, Hey, here’s what I’m trying to do and show everybody, and we started the podcast with Rebuilding Buff. Because WWE, I’m the only wrestler in the history of time that they turned down for rehab,” Buff Bagwell said. “The only wrestler in the history, bro. Not trying to throw anyone under the bus, but several guys went several times. And I’ve never used them, asked them to do it, and they turned me down. So I said the hell with it. I’m gonna do it myself.”

More recently, Bagwell resumed making appearances at wrestling conventions and reunited with Scotty Riggs, his former American Males tag team partner. Riggs credited Bagwell and Rob Van Dam for going to Atlanta and helping him get help for depression.

Bagwell had also spent time at DDP’s “Accountability Crib” in Atlanta and filmed content for an upcoming docuseries about their respective journeys to a better life.

when I get in dark place struggling, going suicidal, I am blessed to have reached out to Bagwell and RVD for help and they immediately did..
