Channel 9 presenter Danika Mason rocked as ex-fiancee makes two demands

Channel 9 presenter Danika Mason has reportedly been asked to hand her engagement ring back to ex-partner Todd Liubinskas.

The NRL TV host earlier this week called off their wedding just three weeks before their plans to tie the knot next month.

The Daily Mail has now reported Mason has been contacted by a third party and asked to hand back the sparkly finger bling immediately.

Friends of Mason have described her as “beyond devastated” and “completely heartbroken”.

The report claims Mason was just days after the separation also asked by the same third party not to speak about the matter in public.

Mason has declined to speak to reporters when approached this week, but will be returning to TV screens on Sunday for the NRL Grand Final.

The host continued to fulfil her professional commitments over the weekend, including her network’s coverage of the NRL preliminary finals, before news broke of the couple’s cancelled wedding on Monday.

She has been seen on TV without her wedding ring multiple times, despite her sporting it on previous TV appearances and social media posts recently.

Mason was also a notable absentee at Wednesday night’s Dally M Awards, despite previously frequenting the rugby league gala event.

It seems the end of the NRL season can’t come soon enough for Mason, who is reported to have made late plans to travel to Bali to holiday with Fox League network star Yvonne O’Keefe — on the same weekend where she was supposed to be exchanging vows with Liubinskas.

Fox Sports star O’Keefe and Mason have shared a long friendship dating back to when O’Keefe hosted Channel 9’s NRL coverage. Photos posted on social media show the pair celebrated O’Keefe’s hens party together in the United States in 2018.

Mason and Liubinskas had been in a relationship for more than three years. He proposed in July 2021.

Liubinskas is involved in the fitness industry, working as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach.

The cancellation of the wedding came as a surprise to many, including several media personalities who had received invitations to the event.

There has been no official statement from either Mason or Liubinskas regarding the cancellation of their engagement.

Mason earlier this week received a message of support from an ex-partner of Liubinskas.

“I can only hope that Danika hasn’t been blindsided like I was or going through something similar,” the ex told the Daily Mail.

“My heart goes out to her if she was.”

Mason and Liubinskas had made their last public appearance together at an event to launch the new BYD electric car and showroom in Alexandria, less than two weeks prior to the cancellation.

The couple had been in a relationship for over three years and share a labrador named Charlie.

Liubinskas proposed to her in July 2021, sharing the moment on Instagram.

Mason has built a successful career at Channel 9, where she started as an intern in the newsroom in 2012 and rose to eventually host The Sunday Footy Show.

She also serves as a sideline reporter for NRL matches, and is part of the network’s Australian Open tennis coverage.
