Counting On Josh And Anna Duggar Explain The Meaning Behind Their Newborn Maryella Hopes Name

Former 19 Kids & Counting star Josh and Anna Duggar recently welcomed their sixth child, a daughter named Maryella Hope, and the couple has just revealed the meaning of their daughter’s name in an Instagram post after numerous Counting On fans asked questions.

Josh and Anna are already the parents of Mackenzie, 9, Michael, 8, Marcus, 6, Meredith, 3, and Mason, 2. And on Saturday, Anna posted a pic of baby Maryella with Meredith and Mason, and she explained in a lengthy caption that they chose their daughter’s name to honor Josh’s late grandmother, Mary Duggar.

Anna wrote that as soon as they found out they were having a girl, she and Josh started discussing name ideas and they thought they had it narrowed down. She said that when Josh’s grandmother passed away in late May they considered the name Mary, but they were hesitant. Anna explained that Grandma Mary was such a special lady, and they wanted their daughter’s name to be a reminder of how special she was and to carry on her legacy, but without feeling like they were trying to replace her.

“Soon, our baby name list that we had narrowed down to 3 names had grown to a list of about dozen Mary-hyphenated names, “ wrote Anna. “As we continued chatting about names, Josh and I both fell in love with the name Maryella! ♥️ We chose Hope for her middle name because of the Hope we have because of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.”

The 31-year-old then told her followers more about Jesus, and she also revealed that during her pregnancy there were many unexpected joys, including more pregnancy announcements from other members of the Duggar family.

Anna said that they also grieved alongside those they love the most, and that prompted them to remember how fragile life is and how short it can be. Despite their grief over losing loved ones, Anna says that they have comfort, hope, and strength because they will one day be reunited with them in heaven.

The mom-of-six then wrapped up her post by saying that Maryella Hope Duggar is a blessing, and she and Josh are grateful for her.

Anna delivered Maryella on Wednesday, November 27th at 9:12 a.m., and she weighed in at eight pounds, two ounces. The newest Grand-Duggar measured 20 inches long.

“On Thanksgiving eve our hearts are overflowing with joy and gratefulness for the arrival of our sixth child!” the couple said in a statement to Us Weekly. “Anna had a fast labor and delivery without complications. We are so thankful for a beautiful, healthy baby girl!”
