Michael Beale close to being named as new Sunderland manager following Will Still links
Michael Beale is close to being named Sunderland manager, talkSPORT understands.
Beale is currently out of work having been sacked as Rangers boss back in October.
The 43-year-old spent just under a year in charge at Ibrox after taking charge in November 2022, but failed to win any silverware as Ange Postecoglou and Celtic dominated Scottish football.
This came after a brief spell in charge of Queens Park Rangers, whom he controversially left after just five months in charge.
Sunderland's search for a new boss came following the decision to relieve Tony Mowbray of his duties last week.
Reputably coaches including Will Still and Nice assistant boss Julian Sable were also linked with the vacancy, however it's Beale who looks set to return to English football.

The Black Cats will be hoping to kick on in the months ahead as they target a place in the Championship play-offs for the second season running.
Sunderland lost to Luton Town in the play-off semi-finals last year, with the Hatters ultimately going on to secure promotion to the Premier League.
As it stands, the Wearsiders sit sixth in the Championship table with a trip to Bristol City coming up this weekend.
