One Direction Mum Makes a Difference

Publish date: 2024-06-21

Generosity is not a foreign concept in the world of One Direction. From #action1D to #1Dfansgiveback, the boyband has spawned some of the most inspiring charity projects since its formation in 2010.

It’s no surprise either that generosity runs deep in the boys’ families. Oldest member, Louis Tomlinson, and his mother, Johannah Deakin, have a penchant for hosting charity events for which they are patrons, including the Believe in Magic Cinderella Ball event. Niall Horan played a charity football match and Liam Payne has supported development projects in hometown, Wolverhampton.

Recently, Harry Styles’ mother, Anne Twist, has also shown her charitable side (though, it has always been there). She posted a photo on Instagram (16/01) in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The photo, having already amassed an impressive 107,000 likes on the social media platform, depicts an enthusiastic Anne with a bucket to collect donations for the charity. It was captioned: “Up up & away! #macmillancancersupport #Argos”.

On Twitter Anne also posted a location update for her 1.89 million followers. Of course, it was nothing short of a few emojis!

Today's the day! Collecting for @macmillancancer It's UK wide so nip to your local @Argos_Online & bring donations! (& some hot soup!?????)

Even in the dismal UK climate, Anne made her way outdoors to collect donations… Talk about determined!

Macmillan Cancer Support aims to ensure that no cancer patient goes through their journey alone. It does this by providing accessible resources for those affected by cancer, whether they are diagnosed themselves or have loved ones who are diagnosed. On its website, the foundation states:

“Macmillan’s ambition is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same.”

Macmillan‘s “Not Alone” campaign provides videos and articles on how to deal with loneliness when cancer affects you and why it’s important to reach out for support.

Wondering how you can get involved, just like this amazing One Direction mum? Challenge yourself on a summer hike or volunteer to collect donations at stores! If you prefer the indoors, host a coffee morning, as Anne has previously participated in!

With the help of her coffee morning, Anne raised over £2000. (That’s nearly US$4000!)

For more information, head to Macmillan Cancer Support‘s website.

In the past, Anne has also supported Believe In Magic (just take a look at her Twitter bio!) and Stand Up To Cancer.

Such a generous heart! It’s no wonder her son and his One Direction band mates went on to support charity projects involving widespread poverty, bullying and terminal illness.

EDIT: Thank you, Anne! It really is nice to be nice.

It's great fun!. (It's Twist tho ?) https://t.co/9jR5dYc1wm
