  • He had first come into the spotlight during the 2017–18 season of the Sunfoil Series (the premier domestic first-class cricket competition in South Africa). He was the leading run-scorer in the tournament with 959 runs in 10 matches.
  • In the 2018–19 season of the CSA T20 Challenge (the premier domestic T20 competition in South Africa), he was the joint leading run-scorer with 348 runs in 10 matches.
  • In July 2018, with 255 runs in 8 matches, he was the leading run-scorer in the inaugural edition of the Global T20 Canada tournament. His performances were instrumental in the Vancouver Knights lifting the title.
  • Later that year, in December 2018, with 469 runs at a strike rate of 138.75, he was the leading run-scorer in the inaugural edition of the MSL. His performances were instrumental in the Jozi Stars lifting the title.
