A 19-year-old pop star and a highly influential teen celebrity, Shawn Mendes seemed to be the perfect choice for the show’s comeback. His performance received quite a positive response from the fans.

MTV Unplugged was once a popular musical show that brought forth acoustic sessions from legends like Nirvana. The artists who performed on the show later went on to release their live sessions as an album. Therefore, Mendes’ move is not unique but a part of the tradition.

Even today, a lot of countries use the platform to showcase their artists’ vocal talent. Considering that it was his first attempt, Mendes has showcased amazing performance skills and vocals on the show.
