Skeet Ulrich Reveals Why He Left Riverdale He Got Bored Creatively

A new report from Us Magazine confirmed that not only is Skeet Ulrich done with the TV series, Riverdale, but he was also just bored with it. During an Instagram Live session with Megan Blake Irwin, Skeet said that he “got bored creatively.”

The 50-year-old actor, on Instagram, shared that he was simply being honest with how he felt about it. As it was previously reported, Ulrich, who portrayed Jughead’s father, FP Jones, since the first season, announced his departure from the series back in February. It was during the fourth season.

At the time of the announcement, Skeet said that he was tremendously grateful for the time he spent on set and also for the relationships he built with many people. The actor said he was “proud” to work with such an amazing group of individuals.

Ulrich isn’t the only star to bail on the show either. Marisol Nichols, who portrayed Veronica’s mother on the CW drama, announced she was leaving after the 4th season.

It wrapped up in May. Reportedly, writers intended on skipping years ahead to the characters’ college days, which means they’d be on the screen a whole lot less.

Us Magazine reported, however, that these plans were brought to a halt on account of the coronavirus pandemic. The show had to shut down their production early and they weren’t able to film the last episodes of the series.

The creator of Riverdale, Roberto Aguirre-Sarcasa, said to reporters from TV Line back in May that he reached out to everyone on set and said that he wanted to ensure they were sent away from the plot in a way they were comfortable with.

This wouldn’t be the first time an actress/actor left a TV series in the last few weeks. It was revealed earlier this week that Ruby Rose also left a CW comic book series, Batwoman. She released a statement confirming the news while also thanking everyone she worked with.

Sources later said Ruby left because she hated the job, although, other reports have disputed this.
