A report from Page Six this week claimed the Atlanta artist, YFN Lucci, is wanted for murder in relation to a shootout that went down in December of last year. The incident reportedly left one man dead and another person badly hurt. The outlet says the rapper has turned himself in to the authorities.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which was the first to report the news, Rayshawn Bennett, 29, turned himself in to the police just a few hours after he dropped a music video for the song, “Rolled On,” on his social media accounts.

Currently, YFN Lucci’s situation doesn’t look too good, because he’s up on murder charges, participation in criminal street gang activity, in addition to aggravated assault among a firearms possession charge. Page Six says the shooting occurred on the 10th of December, last year.

James Adams, 28, was shot in the head and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Kevin Wright, 32, fled to a nearby fire station with a gunshot wound in his stomach, however, he managed to survive.

Reportedly, the police confirmed that both shootings were related to each other, and two men were arrested in connection to them, Ra’von Boyd and a 17-year-old. They were apprehended in Miami, Florida, and were charged for the incidents.

This wouldn’t be the first time a rapper was charged with murder in the last year. In 2020, it was reported by several outlets that the early 2000s rapper, Hurricane Chris, was charged with second-degree murder after he had been accused of murdering a gas station attendant.

Chris and his attorney initially claimed he was defending himself, but the police later claimed they had evidence that he was not acting in self-defense, and was instead, in the middle of an armed robbery that went wrong.

Additionally, the police noted that he was driving a stolen vehicle that was taken from another state. After the reports came out, Chris released a statement on IG in which he claimed he and his lawyer were going to work hard to clear get the charges dropped.
